Cisco announces next-generation router

Cisco said the CRS-3, its Internet router for next generation service providers in the world’s largest Internet.

After a two-week countdown to an announcement stating that “changing the Internet forever,” the company presented what appeared to be an update of its current “core” router, called the CRS-1.

The new router offers 12 times the traffic capacity of the older generation routers offer. It is three times faster than the previous CRS-1, which was introduced in 2004. And that can handle 322TB of traffic video calls second, or simultaneously for all people in China, the company said.
